End of Year 2003 SillyDog701 Online Chat - 13th/14th Dec 2003

Year 2003 is near its end, there were quite a number of things happened during this year relating to SillyDog701. Again, SillyDog701 survived for another year since our last End of Year Online Chat (2002), and I would like to say thank you to all of you.

Our End of Year 2003 SillyDog701 Online Chat will be during second weekend of December, (Sat/Sun) 13th/14th Dec 2003, depending on your timezone.
This is an official SillyDog701 End of Year Online Chat, and everybody is welcome.

Date and time:
The online chat will start on
11:01am (AEDST) Sun 14th Dec
8:01am (GMT+8) Sun 14th Dec
0:01am (GMT) Sun 14th Dec
7:01pm (GMT-5, EST) Sat 13th Dec
6:01pm (GMT-6, CST) Sat 13th Dec
5:01pm (GMT-7, MST) Sat 13th Dec
4:01pm (GMT-8, PST) Sat 13th Dec

Venue:
irc: irc.dixiesys.net
port: 6667
channel: #sillydog701

We welcome everybody to join our online chat at scheduled time.

It is recommended that you use an IRC client to access to the chat room. ChatZilla, XChat, mIRC ... are all good IRC clients.

If you prefer to access via <a href="http://sillydog.org/chat/">chat room</a> page ( http://sillydog.org/chat/ ), please ensure you have Java Environment installed in your operating system, and enabled Java (Applet) in your browser. (The JavaApplet might not work in all platforms and Java engine. I have no control of it.)

Hope to see you there.

Antony Shen.

Urgent changes

Postby Antony » Sat 13 Dec, 2003 10:03 am

Sorry guys.
I've just found out that wyldryde.net is not functioning... this forced me to switch to a different IRC server.

The new venue will be
irc: irc.dixiesys.net
port: 6667
channel: #sillydog701

You will need an IRC clinic such as ChatZilla, mIRC, XChat, etc.

(And I am afraid that the JavaApplet won't work. I haven't got time to get the JavaApplet to work.)

I am sorry for inconvenience. This is beyond my control.

I'm trying now with Chatzilla (the only IRC client I currently have). I can connect but am always disconnected due to ping time out. I have tried the solution that is suggested in the dixiesys window but am still disconnected later.

I will not be in the chat if I can not solve this problem.

Try
Code: Select all
/server irc.dixiesys.net

I can attach to the server and then the chat channel, but I soon get disconnected due to "ping time out."

I get this type of message:
[ERROR] Closing Link: profman[24.209.88.xx] (Ping timeout)
[ERROR] Connection to irc://irc.dixiesys.net/ (irc://irc.dixiesys.net/) closed.
[INFO] Connecting to irc.dixiesys.net via irc.dixiesys.net:6667, attempt 4 of 5...
=== *** Looking up your hostname...
=== *** Found your hostname (cached)
=== *** Checking ident...
=== *** No ident response; username prefixed with ~
=== *** If you are having problems connecting due to ping timeouts, please type /notice 431BC8B5 nospoof now.

Typing in the line

/notice 431BC8B5 nospoof

(the number changes each time) seems to make no difference.

I gave up with Chatzilla and used my old backup chat client, PIRCH98, which still works (amazingly enough). I hadn't used PIRCH since my old Babylon 5 chat days.
