Firefox 13 is out, pushing to your machines

Postby Antony » Wed 06 Jun, 2012 12:14 am

Mozilla has released Firefox 13 through its self-updating channel and website. Mozilla offered a release notes detailing the improvements which I honestly can not notice anything really significant. Based on what was mentioned in release notes, it looks more like a minor release/improvement to me.

Firefox 13 is available through self-unstoppable-update and available from Firefox downloading page. If you are in limited and expensive internet connection (e.g. hotel internet), this self-update might cost you a bit. Firefox 13 still supports Windows XP SP2 (released in August 2004) on Windows platform, and only supports Intel-based Mac with OS X Leopard (10.5) (released in October 2007) or later on Mac platform.

If you notice anything significant in Firefox 13, please do share with us.

You can disable automatic updates. I have done so. The latest thing with v. 13 is apparently setting up new tabs to look like Speed Dial wannabes. Someone told me how to prevent that before I updated, so I added the necessary settings to user.js. My new tabs still are blank.

As Anominosity said, automatic updates can be disabled. I have said this a number of times. Automatic updates will occur if you are totally helpless. Sorry, for getting annoyed, but this true.
In my case, I went to Tools|Help|About Firefox, and I am up to date, and still in the beta update channel.
I will have to check elsewhere if a final version is available.
Yes, a final version is available, and installation is very easy, clicking on the Update button.
