Mozilla has released Firefox 3.6.25 to Firefox 3.6.x users.

Firefox 3.6.25 can be downloaded from this Mozilla page.

Mozilla did not mention a great detail about this update, except the usual:
Firefox 3.6.25 fixes the following issues found in previous versions of Firefox 3.6:

* Fixed several security issues.
* Fixed several stability issues.

Which apparently only fixed one security issue where .jar was not being treated as executable in Firefox 3.6 on Mac.

This is the welcome screen from the new Firefox 3.6.25.

Effectively, this less-than-one-day-old Firefox is “out of date.” Which, I may add, was forced to update itself.

The forced issue has been handled before. I don't know if it is a case of having the wrong settings, or a MAC thing. It, surely, does not happen to me, unless I check for updates, manually. Then, I ignore the message.
By the way, I have not used 3.6.24 for a couple of days, and if it behaves like yours, I will post.
I logged in 3.6.24, and Help|Check for Updates, and 3.6.25 came up. After installation, though, the page told me that I was using an old version. Of course, I ignored the advice.

The key issue is not "forced update", although it still stands correct.

The key issue here is simple:
Users using Mac OS X Tiger (or PowerPC processor users), following Mozilla's rushing for the latest attitude which means using the latest available version in hope to keep Mozilla happy, receives a rather nasty message that tells users off their (just updated) Firefox is outdated.

Mozilla Firefox 3.6.25 is the latest version that supports Mac OS X Tiger (version 10.4.x) and Mac with PowerPC processor.

For the reference, Firefox 9 still embraces the soon-to-be-12-year-old Windows 2000, while Mac OS X Tiger was only released in 2005.
