Firefox 4 Load Time

Postby humpd » Fri 29 Apr, 2011 1:11 pm

Do any of you have any experiences with the latest FF version taking "forever" to load? It happens on occasion with my system. Don't know if there is some background stuff going on with my antivirus or maybe something with add-ons but it does become annoying when it happens.

Yes and no. I am doing a Super AntiSpyware scan, and it takes 100% of CPU. When I clicked on FF4.0 to see what was going on, it took longer than usual to load, but, under normal circumstances it is ok.
I found out, also, that there is an update to 4.0.1, and no release notes were visible. I am sure that I would find them if I do a Search for Firefox 4, but they should not present a page where they say how great FF4 is, and not give more info about what one has. I expected the update, because there was one for Firefox Portable, which requires an entire installer file to update. And, they did away with Help|Check for Updates. Finally, when I went to the Feedback page, I could see feedbacks, but no way to enter one of my own.

Fulvio, I get the same sort of sometimes it does load OK and sometimes not. I also get high CPU usage on occasion. Sure hope they fix all of this with version 5.

No, FF 4 loads quickly. It's not quite as quick as Chrome, but then nothing is that quick. But it is the fastest loading version of FF I've ever had on my computer.

Ghostman,

FWIW, I run 4.0.1 with XP PRO SP3, 768 Megs RAM on a 1.50 gigahertz Intel Pentium M and it is OK. I do run the Portable Apps version with no HD disc cache, just memory cache.
