This is an awesome release. Web browsing is noticeably faster than in Firefox 3.5 and I've not had any crashes thus far. All Firefox users should jump on board with the 3.6 release!

Mandrake,

I disagree. I think I'll stick with FF 3.5.7 for now. There was only the RC1 before code went Gold and I suspect there'll be problems requiring a bugfix sooner, rather than later. I'll wait for FF 3.6.1.

This boils down to discussions I've had earlier. Mozilla is spending less and less time on new versions, and they're just rolling them out.

There may have been only one RC, but after having six betas, I would expect that they could release something decent. Of course, I, never, trust new versions, so my FF Portable is the guinea pig, while the normal version is 3.5.7, and, still, default.
And, for good measure, I look at the nightlies (all with separate profiles). I have not found any flaw, in any of them.

Fulvio,

LOL... my firefox portable is my browser and it is 1.5.7 for now. Give them a couple of weeks to sort out the issues and I'll revist it. The good news? It looks like all my favorite extensions will still work!

Hello to sun-baled Antony and snowy John, and hello to my good friend Fulvio, and, certainly to Mandrake.

So, we finally have something about which to talk.

Finally fixed in FF 3.6 is what is now admitted as a bug in the Java component(s).

Previous to 3.6, my ISP's web mail, which uses Java, would crash FF. I posted this in the MZine forums, a number of times. but I never felt confident enough in my skills to file a bug report.

Strangely, if one disabled Java in Options|Content, the web mail would work.

Now, it is fixed and now it was acknowledged in the Mzine forum to have been a bug.
And, now, the configuration for Java is no longer in Content to enable or disable. But, of course, one can see in about:config that the Java plug-ins are still present.

But what do you find in Help|About Mozilla Firefox? Can you tell that I am using Portable, rather than the normal version. In other words is the UA:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6
tell you that?
The 1.x version is an internal number which uses present Firefox version.
Issues? There should be none, if the proper Firefox was used. The description is:
It's the latest Mozilla Firefox browser bundled with a PortableApps.com launcher as a portable app,

I've been using 3.6 for a little over a day now on 2 XP SP3 boxes. I'm noticing very little difference from 3.5x. The spell checker looks a little different & seems to work a little better & "customize Google" is broken with no update so far.

I will tell you one thing fixed, there was some sort of Java problem. I use my ISP's web mail at work all day to keep up. The web mail, which uses Java, would crash FF. When it now worked fine with 3.6, I put a comment on Mozillazine. The response was something like, "...some bugs get fixed..."
