Firefox WON'T BROWSE OR RESPOND

Postby shaggy » Mon 19 Sep, 2011 1:01 am

I have been having problems with Mozilla Firefox for the past 4 days. It won't work. When trying to load it goes to the restore session section and then freezes and I get the message 'not responding'. Nothing goes after that and I have to back out.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox 6 3 or 4 times, I have updated Java and the adobe flashplayer. Everything is current BUT still the firefox stalls at the restore session.

HELP PLEASE.

remove it and install an older version, there are ALOT of problems with alot of the newer versions.. try v.6.02 or go back to a 3.22 version and try that..

Shaggy,
there is a lot of information which are not giving. First, which version Firefox have you been using? Was the same version working ok before, or is this a new version. Did you install any addon, in the past four or five days? Addons are a major source of problems. v.6.02 is the latest final version, but I prefer 3.6.22.
Secondly, you may have a profile problem. ((% of the time people waste time uninstalling and reinstalling the program, which is, rarely, at fault. I am using three versions of Firefox, all with their own profile, and have had no problem of the type you describe.
I suggest that you stop wasting time, and try to run Firefox in Safe Mode, which disable addons. I am not sure if you have that option, in All Programs|Mozilla Firefox, but take a look at it.
Thirdly, you mention that you want to restore the session. I am pretty sure that you have the option of starting a new session. Try that.

I was using the latest version of firefox 6.0.2. I was not having a problem with it at all. No add ons were installed. Unable to find a safe mode in my version.
I have tried what u have been saying about starting a new session. I have been trying to do this but each time I just get 'not responding' and everything freezes.
Today I have installed firefox 5 and am still getting the same 'not responding' message.
I have just disabled all add ons and re started BUT to no avail, this did not work. Still getting the no response message and also freezing of computer.

THANK YOU FOR YOU HELP HAVE FINALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM. I went back to before the problem started and did a system restore at that date. Then I downloaded updates that were necessary. So far everything is working fine.

Once again thank you for your help in this matter.
