Back in 1993, not long before Pepsi Max launched in the UK, there was a rather short lived variation of TaB called TaB Clear.
It was a colour free, sugar free, cola drink. It tasted OK, but not the best. At the time, I was looking for a decent sugar free
alternative to regular Pepsi. I wasn't too keen on the taste of Diet Pepsi back then. TaB Clear filled that gap for a while.
That was until Pepsi Max came along in early Spring 1993. I tried it, liked it, and have never looked back since.

Diet Pepsi JAZZ

Postby Edward » Tue 01 Aug, 2006 6:34 pm

In my area, two flavors of Diet Pepsi JAZZ have been introduced. One is Black Cherry & Vanilla, the other is Strawberries & Cream.

I have tried the Black Cherry & Vanilla. Once again, Pepsi gets it right. It does taste better than the Diet Coke Black Cherry Vanilla. You can actually taste the flavors. In fact, it tastes that good, you wouldn't think it was diet! :D

Sweeteners: aspartame and acesulfame K.

If you live in the UK or in Germany, there's one more reason that you should start drinking Coca-Cola or Diet Coke.

Thanks to [sdt=11808]Coke-iTunes promotion[/sdt], Apple is giving away 70 million songs, all you need to do is simply buy promotional packs of Coca-Cola and Diet Coke.

Beginning later this month in the UK, 70 million song codes will be in promotional packs of Coca-Cola and Diet Coke, which will be redeemable for a free song from the iTunes Music Store. Through www.Coca-Cola.com/music, participants will be able to access iTunes and redeem their codes. Participants enter the code found on the Coca-Cola promotional label and choose any 79 pence single song from iTunes’ vast catalog of over three million songs. The Coca-Cola iTunes promotion will begin in mid-August and run for six weeks, with a five song limit per person.

In September, Coke will be giving away an iPod® and 50 songs from iTunes every hour for eight weeks in Germany at (www.coca-cola.de) and starting later this week, Coke customers there will be able to exchange their Coke Fridge loyalty coins into free songs from iTunes. Promotions in additional countries across Europe will be rolling out in the coming months.

I've since tried the Diet Pepsi Jazz Strawberries & Cream. It's excellent. :)

...but try returning the cans!

In Massachusetts, there is a 5-cent deposit on cans and bottles containing carbonated beverages. Because Diet Pepsi Jazz is so new, their UPC codes (the barcode seen on packaging) were not programmed into the machines that accept and crush the cans and I had to take them to the customer service desk of the supermarket to get the .05 back for each can the machine rejected!

Did anyone hear on the national news last week, that Coca-Cola was using a cancer causing ingredient in their drinks? I heard it one time, but nothing since.

That does come up every now and then ... usually with a different soft drink each time. Last time, IIRC it was
about the artificial sweeteners used in diet drinks. The thing is, the supposedly carcenogenic ingredients
would only have such an effect if you consumed at least 500 servings, one straight after the other.
If you even tried that, you'd more likely spend half the time running to the loo for a pee every
few minutes, than running the risk of getting any form of cancer.

Here is one article I found on the subject.

Here is a current USA Today article on this issue:

Coca-Cola sued, others settle cases over cancer-causing benzene

I, as time goes on, will try to keep an eye on this issue. I certainly would hope that harmful amounts of benzene do not exist in certain soft drinks.

I have to warn you that, in my experience, such claims of harm and lawsuits on such issues are rarely founded in scientific truth in terms of human harm. [For example, no long-term studies, in my knowledge, on silicon beast implants has scientifically proven that they cause harm.]

Another case-in-point is the fact that a certain artificial sweetener does break down, producing methanol, which is toxic; however, the amount of methanol in a can of pop is less than the amount actually found naturally in apples. Humans can metabolize very small amounts of methanol.

Blockbuster is having a Coke glass special, you can get a free Coca-Cola glass when you buy a 1.5L Coke.

Grumpy says Coke tastes great drink from a Coke glass.

Allow me to end this post with some ads.
If you are bored on the Friday night, you can rent a DVD from Blockbuster. To make an ultimate experience, simply enjoy your Coke with the Coke glass and watch the movie on a 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Display.

Doesn't that mean the movie would have to scale up from DVD's 720x480/576 (depending on your region) to the 30" Cinema Display's massive 2560x1600? That wouldn't look too good.

You'd need to watch a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD movie instead. I think we could do away with Antony's awful Coca-Cola too, and have some nice Pepsi Max!

Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are still only 1920x1080 (okay, so you don't do as much scaling as you would on a regular DVD), and on top of that, they apparently don't work out-of-the-box on Antony's beloved Apple hardware either; the Superdrive in the current iMac/Mac Pro/etc apparently doesn't support Blu-Ray or HD-DVD.

(This is probably where Antony will tell you to watch DVD in 720px-wide media player window, QuickTime 7 recommended.)

To the best of my knowledge, though, Pepsi Max is Mac-compatible.

Also, make sure your HD-DVD is encoded in H.264 rather than VC-1: despite the fact that both standards are a mandatory part of the HD-DVD standard, it's unethical to run VC-1 content on Apple hardware.
