That's very interesting, Greg. However, you are not me... as simple as that. We all have different attitudes, different experiences, different approaches to how we use the web and how we employ our browsers. There is no right or wrong answer here. The thread is not judgment based. It was simply a statement of personal choice. Evidently many more millions of users find Chrome "just right" as compared with let's say, Seamonkey. That doesn't mean that I would deride the much smaller user base of Seamonkey users since that is their prerogative.

I no longer use anything Mozilla-derived. The next to last versions of the software (Fx, TB and SM) kept hanging on my 64-bit desktop, the data connections waiting for something to happen simply "froze" the software. Spent $100 on a new router (It was found to have buggy factory-installed firmware, still waiting for fix!) and network card, but the problem persisted with those in use.

Stopped using anything Mozilla-dervied, problem solved.

I now use Chrome/Chromium for a web browser and Claws Mail (also ported over to Windows) for e-mail.

As you can see from my user agent string, I'm using Firefox occasionally. It's not as fast as Chrome but it's like an old shoe... it still just feels right even though it's becoming increasingly bloated.

So, tell me a bit about Claw mail? Do you pay for this? I've never heard of it before. What advantage does it have over gmail?

It's an e-mail application. Claws Mail is free and open-source. My current avatar is the Claws Mail logo. I now use it under both Linux and Windows. The Windows version is included as part of GPG4Win. Screenshots are available at the Claws Mail web site.

You can add POP3, IMAP4, NNTP (newsgroups) accounts as well add a Gmail account (adding it either as a POP3 or IMAP4 account), it's loaded with features. I mentioned in another thread that Fulvio started regarding a mail problem, one of the features is that it can display a log of the network connection to the server, in the event of any errors retrieving mail. The log info should indicate what the problem was (wrong password, error on the server end, etc.) WIth plugins that can be loaded in, it can also display HTML e-mails, but such e-mails are first displayed as text by default and another plugin can filter out spam, once the user initially marks e-mails as spam or (for good mail) ham.

Claws Mail's history dates back to the Sylpheed e-mail application (which is also available for Linux and Windows, Claws Mail was known as Sylpheed-Claws back then. As time went on, it branched off on its own.

What advantage does it have over gmail?

, ClawMail is a program, like Thunderbird, while Gmail is a specific type of account, available as Webmail, or for set up in a mail program.
I took a look at ClawMail, andI saw that it is mainly for Linux, but there is a Windows variety, part of something else. That's where I gave up.

Yes, I took a look as well, Fulvio and after realizing it was mainly for Linux and was a pop mail program, I also lost interest. About 99% of all the e-mail I now receive comes through webmail (gmail, yahoo, hotmail and gmx mail).
