This is an annoying bug concerning the appearance of Mozilla Firefox that is affects Windows 95, 98, and ME. This has been documented in
Bug 171349 and will hopefully be fixed sooner or later.
To reinstate the Firefox icon on the title bar and Windows taskbar, do the following:
> Go to the folder in which Mozilla Firefox is installed (usually [tt]c:\program files\mozilla firefox\[/tt])
> Go to the [tt]chrome[/tt] subfolder.
> In [tt]c:\program files\mozilla firefox\chrome\[/tt], go to the [tt]icons[/tt] folder, or create it if it is not present.
> In [tt]c:\program files\mozilla firefox\chrome\icons\[/tt], go to the [tt]default[/tt] folder, or create it if it is not present.
> Download
this icon into your [tt]c:\program files\mozilla firefox\chrome\icons\default\[/tt] folder.
The next time you restart the program, the Firefox icon should then appear on the title bar and Windows taskbar instead of the "generic" Windows icon.
