Google's Desktop Search tool has come out of beta status, and the newly released version contains a host of improvements. Perhaps most significantly, the tool is now finally capable of searching for e-mail and web history information in Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Netscape. Other changes include support for searching PDF, video, music, and image files, as well as the capability of "search[ing] directly from your desktop with the deskbar."

Unfortunately it is still available only for Windows 2000 (SP3) and Windows XP.
