gOS

Has anyone looked at gOS, which is Ubuntu-based (Hardy Heron)? If you have tried it, how is it?

I have downloaded the image of gOS 3 Beta and tried it from the CD on my 166 MHz Pentium 1 system, but the hard drive has another Linux distro (Mandriva) on it. I have been looking for something light to keep the Pentium going and so far, everything installed to hard drive has been somewhat slow running due to the speed of the Pentium CPU.

One drawback I saw from the CD is that the monitor resolution defaulted to 800x600 and could not be expanded beyond that. Some of the desktop items (Google Widgets) were partially off the screen as a result.

Hmm. Seems to run nice in a VM. I think I'll work on installing it on my P4 system and my 497mhz Pentium 3.
