http://www.all-windows.com/oe_kernel32.html for the OE problem.
As for IE, I don't know, because I avoid it for security reasons, (like I avoid OE) but a search provided this: http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/ ... 00038.html

Download and install Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 from Microsoft. Then go to WindowsUpdate and download ALL critical updates.

And after all that, for your everyday browsing and email needs, go to Mozilla, and download
a copy of Mozilla 1.7. Leave IE on the backburner for using Windows Update, and the sites
that (stupidly) demand the use IE. Or, better still, get rid of it altogether . . . !

Getting rid of IE isn't a good idea, it breaks newer version of Office, and many other applications. Disabling it works well though.

Thank you all for your responses... My question is how would I disable Internet Explorer, or should I get rid of it?.. and when I download Mozilla 1.7 do I also need to download Netscape?

Thank you very much for all your help

As Mozilla 1.x and Netscape 7.x are both effectively seperate entities, you do not need to have
one to be able to use the other. The latest release of Netscape is 7.1 (built upon Mozilla 1.4)
is now over a year old, but the release of Netscape 7.2 (built upon Mozilla 1.7) is imminent.

I find the easiest way to disable IE, is to use your firewall to block it from accessing the web.

There are ways to disable the actual IE browser engine, but such methods are only available
for (and will only work on) Windows 2000/XP/2003. Since you're using Windows 98, these
methods will not work on your system. You can use IERadicator to uninstall most IE from
your system, as it leaves behind the components of IE, that other apps may rely on.

As for the issue of later versions of Microsoft Office, I really wouldn't recommend going any
further than Office 2000 on computers running Windows 98. (If you still had Windows 95,
then Office 97 is as far as you should go.) Alternatively, there's always OpenOffice . . .

I downloaded Mozilla 1.7.1 and everytime I try to download shockwave it sticks on 1%.

When I click to download shockwave it says that it will be installing in internet explorer and mozilla why is it still trying to download in internet explorer when i thought i got rid of it? Also I tried to download a free trial of norton antivirus and it said it couldn't continue because I needed a higher version of internet explorer on the computer? (I don't want internet explorer anymore...)

Thanks for all the help...

I'm unable to access control panal... I keep receiving Explorer not responding.
