Hello all,

I've been bothered with this Firefox feature. How do I turn off the auto completion of form fill? (whatever they call it).

Some values are nicely filled for me, but some are not.

I am using Firefox 3.6.12

Look at Tools|Options|Privacy| uncheck Search and Form History.
I uncheck almost everything in that section, using: Custom Settings.

Thank you Fulvio, you nailed it.
I un-selected "Remember search and form history", and it did the job.

Those options were not there if I left it as "Remember history" (default).

Anthony, the feature has changed with every version. I am dabbling with 4. beta, and it seems to have the same settings as 3.6.x, though.

It is handy, however when the filled values aren't the ones you want, it's annoy to delete them and replace them with suitable values.

I love the feature, but I really agree that I wish there was a way to edit the stored info other than just deleting it.

To disable the automatic filling of forms so that you do not have to delete it, I believe that this setting will do that.
signon.autofillForms - set to false

I've got Firefox 3.6.13 and under the tools menu 'options' is not one of the options. Does anyone know where it's hidden in this version. Searching for Autofill and Autocomplete in the help menu don't give relevant information.

I am not sure where you are looking. If you click on Tools, you will get a dropdown, at the very bottom you will see Options.You click on Options, and you get a popup, with buttons on top. Pick the correct button, etc.

Under the tools dropdown menu I see these choices:

Web Search

Download
Add-ons

Error Console
Page Info

Start Private Browsing
Clear Recent History

No choice for options. The last choice is Clear Recent History

I'm wondering why it's different??

The same question came up at another Newsgroup. The only one which seems to have work is Tools|Options|Privacy|uncheck remember search and form history. Clear History does not do the job, the next time around, and that makes sense.
