How do I turn off Netscape Desktop Navigator?

Postby hcnet » Fri 10 Sep, 2004 9:48 am

I just installed Netscape 7.2, and now Netscape Desktop Navigator comes up whenever I boot up. I've clicked Preferences and unselected the "Start Navigator when Windows starts up" check box, but nothing happens when I click the Save button, and it's still there the next time I boot up.

How do I turn it off for good?

Thank you.

It'll have an entry in Add/Remove Programs. Just uninstall like you would with any other program.

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

As DJGM said, if you don't want it, use the Add/Remove. Otherwise, what do you mean of the Desktop Navigator? The Desktop has a shortcut to Navigator, but it will come up by itself. Now, if you mean the Weather Channel, or Desktop Weather, it is a different story. You don't need to install it, it is a separate item, and if installed you could disable it from Start|Run|msconfig and deselect it. I disabled the Start with windows option, directly from the program. Click on the down arrow on the upper left of the thing|Preferences. Uncheck the line on the top right.

I would've preferred to keep it on my machine, just not to have it open automatically. But following your advice, I used Add/Remove Programs to delete it. Thank you.

I guess that you did not read my addition to to DJGM. No reason to uninstall it.
