First, you need to download a file to a folder using either a Web browser or the <ftp> program. Second, you usually have to unzip the file you have downloaded using <gunzip> and <tar>. Then run the file that you downloaded.

Download the Fedora RPMs for programs, that's a lot easier. Though most Linux distros come with so much software you never need to download anything

Sometimes some of that software is old. I think that Mandrake Linux 9.2 still came with Netscape Communicator 4.78 and Mozilla 0.9.4.

No it didn't. Mandrake 9.2 didn't come with Netscape, and had a version of Mozilla newer than version 1.0.

I could have sworn that I had Mandrake 9.2 running on my Linux box downstairs. Turns out that it's 8.2.

That might the case. I have MandrakeLinux 9.2 installed on this computer (through a multi-boot) and sure enough it comes with Mozilla 1.4. MandrakeLinux 8.2 comes with a different version, an older one though.
