You can download it Netscape 4.79 (or any other version of Communicator) for Linux, by going to the
relevant folder on the Netscape FTP server, or via the Netscape Browser Archive here at SillyDog701.

As it's quite some time since I last installed Netscape 4.x on Linux (about 2 years) with it now being
totally obsolete, and of very little use to me (especially on Linux) I don't remember how to install it.

I'm sure you'll be able to find the necessary instructions for installing Netscape Communicator
for Linux somewhere on the net, maybe even in a .txt file on the Netscape FTP server itself!

Anyway, I thought you preferred to use Internet Exploiter these days . . . ?

Hi,
I'm using RedHat Linux, which does not support Internet Explorer.

Why? What exactly is the problem you're having with it? In my experience with Mozilla on Linux,
once I have it installed, and set up to my liking, it's barely any different than how it is on Windows.

As for Communicator (IIRC) there is a readme file included with the binary you download, which
explains how to install the old Netscape 4.x browser with an install script, which is also included.

Would you mind posting a screenshot of this? I've used Mozilla in Redhat Linux 9 and it's worked just as well as it does under Windows.

Run the command "ksnapshot", and this will enable you to take screengrabs in Linux.

Att installera program i Linux

Postby rovhol » Mon 26 Jan, 2004 1:48 pm
