How to remove wwwzuc32.exe malware

Postby emoreira » Tue 11 May, 2010 8:11 pm

Hi, my home PC has been infected with the wwwzuc32.exe malware and I cannot find the way to remove it.
I have running the Avast antivirus, but it seems that it cannot detect it.
I've been searching the Internet about this infection and it seems that it's pretty new.
The virus presents as a new item in the start menu.
The symptoms of the virus is that the PC turns incredible slow.
I've tried running MSConfig and dissable the startup but I cannot find the file in the hard disk.
I've also searched in the registry for that entry and could delete any entry with that file name, but it seems that the file is regenerated over and over again.
The PC is behind a Linksys router and the IP is NATted.
Please, any help would be appreciated.

I would first try and find it while running in Safe Mode, and delete it that way. If that doesn't work, then grab a Linux live CD (Ubuntu or similar), and use it to find and delete it off the main drive.

I've downloaded the Prevx 3.0 antivirus that could detect it. The freeware version does not have the cleaning feature, so I had to buy the 1 month 1 PC licence that could effectively delete the infection.
By the way, how do I enter to safe mode in XP ?
