I got Windows 7!

Yes, I got Microsoft Windows 7 installed.

Some of you may be surprised that I use Windows 7, well, I have to say that the experience so far has been pretty positive. Windows 7 is pretty fast (even under Parallels Desktop for Mac on my slow Mac Pro).

to Don: Antony is poor, Antony does not have any working PC in his place, he can't afford one.

Enjoy your Windows 7! I see you have the Professional version, which you called me rich for having. Plus, I got my copy of Seven Pro for free through MSDNAA, so it follows that you must be even richer.

Anyway, I am sure your Mac Pro which cost you over $10,000 can serve double-duty as a PC, as can your old iMac and MacBook Pro. Hence I would say you have several working PCs.

How would that make me "even richer"?
You have Windows 7 Professional for quite a while, and I just have it.
You had the very expensive Windows Vista Ultimate, which I didn't have any version of Windows Vista (except the FREE trial back then).

Mac Pro itself did not cost me over $10,000.

Well, you didn't listen to the several thousand times I've told you that I got that copy of Vista Ultimate absolutely free.

So, congratulations on paying for a copy of Windows, which is something I've never done. My copy of Seven was free from MSDNAA, my copy of Vista Ultimate was a prize, and before that I just used whatever OS my computer came with.

The Windows 7 I have is an OEM version, and purchased under discount. Antony is poor.

Of course I remembered what you said. You still haven't learned that we don't need to compare the amounts we spent, just their monetary values will do.

So using your logic, I am rich for spending $0 total on Microsoft OSes, while to my knowledge you have bought several, at least one of which was discounted, yet call yourself poor? Excuse me for failing to see the logic in this.

Finally, you got it. When we compare what you have/had and what I have/had, rather than how much you spent and how much I spent.

I am happy to give you more examples. For example, say Don was given a video camcorder, and Antony does not have any camcorders. In that instance (of camcorders), it is clearly that Don is better off than Antony (in that aspect).

I believe the correct term for what you're describing is "fortunate" or "lucky", not "rich".

And I haven't been using the word "rich" in this thread.

So, the comparison is simple
Don has Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Professional
Antony only has Windows 7 Professional.

Free and free versus, well, paid. That sounds to me like it's no longer grounds for you to hold having a copy of Windows over my head. What more do you want me to say?

Can we simply compare how many gadgets/items you have versus I have? Rather than how you got them versus how I got them?

Not if you are using those figures to imply wealthiness.

I downloaded my copy of Windows 7 . . .

. . . from the Subscriber Downloads section on Microsoft Technet as part of my subscription!
:D

(Although the Windows 8 Build 7955 installed on my testbed PC was sourced from ... elsewhere!)

Since I got around to upgrading to an Intel Core 2 Quad based standard PC, I haven't yet got around to
re-installing Windows 7 to dual boot alongside Windows XP Pro. I'd imagine though, with a 2.6GHz
quad-core CPU, 3GB RAM and 1GB AMD Radeon GPU, my WEI would be quite respectable.

I'll get around to re-installing Windows 7 on this PC at some point . . .
