IE not working on vista!

Postby john_bcfc » Sat 22 Mar, 2008 3:12 pm

hey, my IE is not working and just wondered if anyone could help.

i load up internet explorer and it registers my home page on the tab, but doesn't actually load the website.

When i click on Internet Options, i get this message:

'This application has failed to start because MSHTML.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem'

How do i download a new MSHTML.dll if i can't get onto the internet.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Do you remember what day it first started doing that? If so, you could probably use System Restore to restore back a day or two before the day it happened, and you should be able to open IE again.

Do you have internet access anywhere else?
If so, do you have a USB Flash Drive?

If your answer is yes, use another computer to get onto the internet, download the file onto your flash drive, and then follow the instructions on how to re-install it.

Another decent source of help is the Microsoft Vista or IE7 Community at microsoft.com.

I have gotten help there. Not as much as here, but it's not too bad.

I noticed the OP had the Zango toolbar in his user agent, this is a nasty piece of spyware, and it's probably what killed IE.
