IE Security Issue

Postby Edward » Fri 02 Jul, 2004 7:31 pm

internetnews.com has a commentary article concerning the latest flaw to Internet Explorer. The article is here.

In fact, this US-CERT advisory recommends the use of browsers other than Internet Explorer.

CNet News.com also has an article on this issue as well as this article.

And this is big news? Lets see, IE has updates rolled out practically every week, so even if you patch your computer every time an update is made available IE is still insecure.

That's what Firefox is for!

Anyway you make it, PCs are always insecure. The only way you could have a secure PC is if you disconnect it from the Internet entirely (of course, then there's Van Eck Phreaking, but that's another story).

A router will also secure a PC. I am in the process of getting one myself. It has been suggested leaving ZoneAlarm on the PC after the installation of a router, which would give the user a second level of protection.
