I'm just starting to use Opera 7.11 and want to import my Netscape 4.78 bookmarks.

I've tried Import Bookmarks>Netscape Bookmarks and pointed to my Netscape "bookmark.htm" file (which is a large 3.98 MB file), but Opera just hangs.

I eventually have to CTRL+DEL+ALT out.

It appears that the Opera bookmarks are an *.adr file as there is a file named operadef6.adr which I assume are the default bookmarks?

System is 200 MHz Pentium, Win95B MS Plus, 64 MB RAM, 900 MB free on c:\ partition, 56K V.90 modem.

Otherwise, Opera seems to outperform Netscape.

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

This may be a bug.

I just imported Mozilla 1.4 bookmarks (same format as Netscape 7.1) into Opera 7.11 for Wndows. The file Opera uses for its bookmarks increased in size as expected, however the imported bookmarks are not listed with the original.

I discovered that it wasn't a hang, just an excessively long process; about 45 minutes!

I created a New Folder in the Hot List called Bookmarks before trying Import again, then went away for 45 minutes.

Voila! They are there and useable, in the Hot List.

Of course this is Netscape 4.78 to Opera 7.11.

Haven't read about a bug involving bookmarks.

Wow! It may depend on your system, but I have no bookmarks file in Netscape which is more than 100kB. But, I remember that once I visited a website, which "donated" about 100MB worth of bookmarks. My Netscape seemed to be locked.
