Is startupcache.4.little safe to delete?

Postby jpChris » Thu 15 Dec, 2011 11:35 pm

Hi all,

I've got this file: startupcache.4.little in 3 different places and they're all different sizes.

What the heck is this file and, can I delete it? I've Googled, but I can't find much.

try moving one of the startupcache.4.little to a different location. Launch Firefox and see if it works. It it works, you can remove all startupcache.4.little.

Hi Antony,

Any particular one? It's in:
Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\startupCache
Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\startupCache
Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\startupCache

What the heck is it???

I would try all of them if I were you.

Or just change to filename to something else on all of those.

I guess the startupcache.4.little (as you mentioned originally) and the mentioned folders are Mozilla's trick to make Firefox/SeaMonkey launch a teeny weeny bit faster, or to lead people feel so.

If it was just to make it launch a little faster, why are there 3 of them and different sizes? Also, isn't "launching a little faster" a part of Cookies? I clear the cookies, but the file is still over 3MB. And, what about the Quick Launch? Isn't that supposed to do it?

I opened one of the files and it's filled with code (¥=hÃz¶?¤Za›CY#vO¥Ôkì#*û€]0벶ªÌÃ).

That, I don't know. Sorry. I haven't figured out much documentation from Mozilla about this.
