Is Windows a virus?

Postby Fulvio » Wed 23 Oct, 2002 6:35 pm

1.They replicate quickly - okay, Windows does that.

2.Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so - okay, Windows does that.

3.Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk - okay, Windows does that too.

4.Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. Sigh... Windows does that, too.

5.Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. Yup, Windows does that, too.

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.

So Windows is not a virus.

It's a bug.

Really?

There's me thinking most web servers were UNIX based! Maybe I
was mistaken. Not that you'd understand what I mean, of course!

Geez!

UNIX'S are useless

ROTFLMGDAO!!!!

Linux and UNIX are the best OS's IMO. Plus, over 60% of webservers use UNIX or Linux.

Most versions of Windows rubbish too. The only exceptions to this are Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Windows 95/98/Me are just buggy and crash all the time. NT 4 is reliable and quick, but too outdated for modern computers. But Windows 2000 and XP are quick and powerful - and very reliable, as far as an MS OS goes :)

Mac OS X is good too :)

Not to name names or anything, but certain people on this forum don't know what they're talking about, and just spam in an attempt to increase their message counts. I'd just ignore them... :?
