Nice to see this finally.

For the longest time all the 64-bit download provided was 64-bit drivers for iPods/iPad/iPhone, while the application remained 32-bit.

Hopefully it'll be a little faster, and a little bit more stable.

Installed on Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Still just installs 64-bit drivers, application running as 32-bit.

John, you might want to try this link instead:

I did. All it does is provide the 64-bit drivers for apple products. The iTunes application itself is NOT running as a 64-bit application.

Very good to hear. I thought iTunes was 64 bit all this time?

It wasn't, and still isn't.

How do you check is an application is 64-bit or not in Windows?

To an end user, both 32-bit and 64-bit applications work identically. 32-bit executable files will run seamlessly on the 64-bit version of Windows, and that's as it should be. Obviously trying to run a 64-bit executable on a 32-bit version of Windows will prompt an incompatibility message.

To see whether a particular application is 32-bit or 64-bit is easy. If one opens the task manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) looks under the processes tab, any 32-bit application will show up in the 'image name' column with *32 next to the name of the executable.

Firefox.exe is clearly a 32-bit executable, while itype.exe (Microsoft keyboard utility) is a 64-bit executable.

And iTunes shows up with a *32, making it a 32-bit application. Here, look.

And before you ask, yes, I used the 64-bit download from Apple's website.
