iTunes is a nuisance

Postby Fulvio » Tue 28 Jun, 2011 12:27 pm

Many years ago I purchased a lot of music via iTunes, but I have become disenchanted with it, especially because of the indifferent support exhibited over the years.
Updates are, particularly, painful. iTunes is huge, and it takes forever to update. Typically, I must allow up to an hour for any update. But, I have seen, more and more, some problem redeeming music offered, e.g., by Starbuck. My latest experience was with a ten-track playlist, "Summer Soundtrack". When I entered the code, I was given an "unknown error", and it quit. I tried again, later, it gave the name error, but soon after that I was informed that the code was redeemed, but, then, nothing happened. I reported this to iTunes tech support, and after three days, I got no acknowledgment from them. This is in the same ball park, as when I had, originally, purchased music through AOL username, but, after dropping AOL, I decided to get an iTunes username. It took me several attempts, and, nearly, ten months to regain my music, which I had, legally, purchased.
And, periodically, when I try to play those track in a protected format, iTunes tells me that it can't find them.
Look who is talking about "stealing music"!

Sorry to know your trouble.

iTunes, somehow, does require up-to-date system, which could be annoying.

Are you able to log into your old iTunes account (with your past AOL username/password)?

It seems like you are not the only one experience with using AOL login on iTunes. I would suggest you to try http://appleid.apple.com/ and see if your AOL login still works.

Once you logged in, there's a new "purchased" option, and you can re-download all your past purchases.

Antony,
this is what I had said: "I had, originally, purchased music through AOL username, but, after dropping AOL, I decided to get an iTunes username. It took me several attempts, and, nearly, ten months to regain my music, which I had, legally, purchased." In other words I got all the music purchased with my AOL address, but it took me nearly ten months.
As for the other issue, no reply from iTunes "lack of" support.
By the way, I am using Google Chrome, and could not get a quote. I, usually, place the material to be quoted between
and
. Maybe that's the way to do it with Goolgle Chrome, i.e. to type up what I want, but copy/paste does not work.
