A couple of weeks ago, I redeemed a Starbuck pick of the week. It was interesting, but it generated a nearly 3 GB download, which I cannot afford to have on my hard drive, and would take a great amount of time to download.
I tried to remove it, by selecting delete, and it would not quit trying to download. I deleted everything I could find about it, but, today, when I tried to redeem a simple song, iTunes, again tried to download that cursed TV show, and my song, never showed up. Of course, I could not reenter the same code.
I don't know if I, finally, lost that download, but I was able to get downloaded another pick of the week.
Now, look at who is "stealing" music!(yes, I contacted Apple support, but got no answer, yet).

Try to go do Downloads section, and you can click pause.

Otherwise, you can delete the item from your iTunes (song or movies or whatever) from appropriate section.

And in the Preference section, don't enable the automatic downloads.

I thought I had it deleted, but obviously, it was not. I may have to go to hard drive, or put up with downloading such a huge item, and then deleting it. At this point, it would take nearly an hour to download it, with my broadband connection. I tried to delete it in TV shows, where it resides, and it can't be deleted. Unless I can delete it from the hard drive, I am stuck with it.

Nothing is enabled.

The Tech people acknowledged receiving my report, but sent me only a bunch of useless links.
And, of course, the song which I had wanted in first place is nowhere to be found.

I thought it was a movie or something else.

It was a TV show, but my issue is that I don't want, after finding out how large it was, and, when I selected to download a song, the same TV show came up to have its download completed, and the song was not downloaded. But, the song was "redownloaded", as per suggestion from Apple Tech support, clicking on an icon on the bottom left (fourth from the right), after having paused the TV show.. I received no suggestion about how to remove the TV show.
I was able to find the partial download, and delete it. Now, the download comes up, starting from scratch.
I guess that I will have to complete the download, and, then, delete it, or go through the same charade of pausing the download, every time I open iTunes.

This is the latest. The Apple Tech Support checked up with me, almost daily, and it was with the same person. The problem had not been encountered before, and, before I could send all the information, I decided to download that big file (it took me only an hour!), and then I deleted it. As a test, I downloaded a song, and the deleted TV show did not come up, again, to be downloaded. And, I got five free tracks to be downloaded, so that I continue my test.
I am very impressed with Apple Tech Support for persevering.
But, there was something wrong, as iTunes was asking me login, just to look at iTunes Stores. And, after the login, the TV show started downloading, again and again. But, apparently, not after it had been downloaded in its entirety.

I start to think that you might need to perform a clean re-install of your Windows to prevent all those weird issues with your browsers and iTunes.

You know, Antony, I've been thinking this for some time but I hesitated to say it. Every now and then it helps to flush the system, particularly if it's an older one with years of accumulation of redundant and orphan files from installed and uninstalls. Good luck.

I keep my system nice and clean. I know that a lot of people feel that periodic reinstalls will cure all.
Can you remindc me of which weird issues I have with my browsers (and which one)?
The iTunes issue never occurred before, but I, never, tried to download a file of that magnitude, and I tried the same solution, later suggested by the Apple tech, to remove what I had, i.e. right click|delete. Yes, the item disappeared, till the next download. Only completion of the download, followed by deletion of the file worked.

Fulvio, I don't think Antony was talking about browsers. He was talking about a complete re-install of the operating system.

Anyway... it was a suggestion that may have no merit so forget about it. It's your computer and you know what is best for it.

And speaking of re-installs... I have an issue of my own but I'll start another thread.

I know this is a bit late.

In iTunes' download screen (click "Downloads" on the left pane), you can right click on the downloading item and select "Delete", which should solve your problem.
