Ken and Barbie to split, confirmed

Postby Antony » Thu 12 Feb, 2004 7:02 pm

Okay, I know most boys don't play Barbie, and might wonder who Ken is. Ken is, actually was, Barbie's boyfriend for 43 years.

The couple's business manager, Russell Arons, vice president of marketing at Mattel, said that Barbie and Ken "feel it's time to spend some quality time apart."

"Like other celebrity couples, their Hollywood romance has come to an end," said Arons, who quickly added that the duo "will remain friends."

Who do blame? Blaine the Aussie boogie boarder perhaps.

I played Barbie with girls when I was young. I, personally, just don't understand Barbie, change clothes, change hair style, going out for party, or getting married.
Then what?
change clothes, change hair style, going out for party, or getting married again.

Someone got to teach me how to play Barbie.

She has about 17 Barbies, and plenty of spare clothes for them to change. With her only Ken, same clothes everyday.

A bit of trivia:

Back then, when Barbie & Ken were first introduced, there was also a third doll from Mattel, named Midge.

On the TV Land cable channel, which airs older TV programs, and the occasional classic commercial, one such commercial was for Barbie & Ken, and also introduced Midge.
