Kids and homework

Postby CPMom » Thu 24 Jul, 2014 11:19 am

I was talking to my nephew and his friends last night about school and studying in general and one of them mentioned that they know of people who have used this kind of thing http://fastessaywritingservice.com (not sure they'd tell me if they'd used it themselves...)
They seem to think that as long as they do the actual legwork, the research etc, then they should still get the credit, despite not writing up the actual paper themselves.
Is this a generational thing?

I believe it is a generational ting. In my view it is rationalization in the fullest sense of the word. If I were the teacher, they would receive a failing grade.

I was never good at writing essays. I did not get good marks back then, but at least I did not fail.

As for scientific subjects, we all know that getting the help at this level for assignments would not help us at all.

Back then, we often ended up staying at library until it closes, discussing the assignments together. The lecturers like to give us tricky assignments. Well, it was last century.

It makes me wonder if they have used them or not, but yeah, I suppose things like writing essays are becoming a lot easier to do in the sense that information is so widely available. I suppose these services should surprise me really.

I'm hoping to have a real chat with my nephew about it and see what he thinks. I didn't want to really push it too far with him with his friends around because I wasn't sure I'd get an honest discussion out of him with them there.

Thanks for the responses. It's nice to get stuff like this off my mind.

If my kid was using such cheating service, he or she would be punished. If his or her teacher allowed such cheating service, I would have a word with the teacher.

Being old schooled myself, I would make sure my kid has easy-to-read handwriting before he or she is allowed to use computer to type essays.

A feeling of association with educators helps understudies feel like they have a place at the foundation. Guides can help in building this association by helping understudies comprehend that they ought to become more acquainted with their educators, if just so staff can show them better.
