Kubuntu and Epson P50 Printer

Postby leon1760 » Thu 18 Nov, 2010 5:16 am

Is there anyone out there who can help?
The OS is Kubuntu 10.04, and I have attempted to install a new Epson P50 printer. After 3 days I can now get it to feed paper, and after some 20 sheets it begins to print random characters on the top of each page. Clearly something is wrong!
I installed usblib, and the ppd for P50, - which may just be where I went wrong!
Should I remove this to start with? (How?)
What am I missing that makes this not work?

Thanks to anyone who can help me.

The data would appear to be garbled. I saw this in the past with other Linux distributions and Epson printers. I was able to resolve this back then by deleting the printer from CUPS, which should also delete the printer queue, then install it anew.

I use HP printers now.
