Live links using Macs

Postby Fulvio » Tue 02 Apr, 2013 12:00 pm

I know next to nothing about Macs, and I have sister-in-law who uses a Mac, only. Everything is ok, except that her e-mail links are not live. I have to copy the websites, and paste them in my address bar. Is there a way to type links in Macs, which are live? A search tells me that it may have something to do with the OS version.
She uses AOL Webmail.

What do you mean by "live"? As in clickable?
If that's the case, it pretty much is due to how she sends the email. She might have (or the system might have) intentionally remove all clickable links for some reason.

I mean "clickable". I don't know about the Mail program, or system (Mac of some type).
I my case, the simplest way to send a clickable link is to leave one space before and after the URL, using Sillydog or Thunderbird, with my carrier mail. I will see if AOL Webmail has some restriction.

Usually, the email (sender) automatically converts URL (http links) to clickable version when sending, (instead of plain text).

Some email programs (reader) would also parse the URLs from plain text.

I don't use AOL Webmail myself, sorry.

I tested my AOL account, and found out that Webmail did not produce clickable links. However, when I used my account set up in Seamonkey or Thunderbird (as IMAP), but sent using the default (Cox) SMTP, and with no special precautions, clickable links were produced.
