Looking for book publisher

Postby Devilgrrl87 » Fri 21 May, 2004 4:03 pm

Does anyone know a reasonable priced publisher that would publish a book by an amature writer? I am looking for a publisher for a novel, and so far, the only ones I have found charge 1000 dollars up front. I am posting to see if anyone knows a publisher that will publish up front, and instead of paying up front, they could charge a larger percent of the royaltys. If anyone knows, will you please reply? thank you, Nicole.

You can always go to Google, and type in something like "how to get published". I'm sure it will bring up many web sites as a result, and maybe you'll be able to find what you're looking for.

Don't forget to ask google how to spell "Amature =Amateur"
especially if you want to be published.

How true, Lorraine! (BTW, welcome back!)

A manuscript should be error-free before submitting to any publisher.

I'm not back, I just couldn't resist.

royaltys = royalties

Nicole, perhaps you should hire a proof reader before sending your manuscript to your publisher, if you find one.

I think you need to improve your English. Not just the spellings, but the construction of your sentences.

You wouldn't know the difference between "smart" from "dumb", it was just a "suggestion"

For once, I agree. I am not a very good speller, I think everyone knows that. (lol) I have things that are published, and as far as some of my grammer errors, I type very fast, so im a little careless sometimes! I also dont pay much attention to punctuation... as you can tell! Lorraine, you can post all the nasty, derrogatory replies that you want to... I really dont care! as far as I can tell, you are no better than me, because while I cant spell very well, at least I dont have to post mean replies to feel good about myself. With that said, I will leave you to your miserable existance. Good bye. :)

I don't need nasty comments like that. I don't know what i have done to you. Alls i did was ask a simple question, sorry if i'm not the best at organizing my words, but i'm only human, lorraine and i can do without the personal attacks, of which i consider that one.

lorraine seems to like to reply in a very deroggatory manner, perhaps she should remember the old phrase ' if you cant say anything nice, then dont say anything at all" It would certainly change the way she is observed by users who dont know her... one would think she was a very negative person, which is actually not very far from the truth...

Speaking of book publishers, I remember on one of my websites that had a TON of banner ads that were set by my service provider, there were a few book publishers in with them. If I recall correctly, there was one called 1stBooks (not related to the 1st grade book publisher) available at www.1stbooks.com

In this thread, Lorraine may not expressed in a very polite way, but the only point was clear, learn the spelling first.

I am not saying who's right or wrong, but I believe both of you should stop.
If any of you want me to involved, forward the PMs to me.

hey antony, don't ya think what she said was a little uncalled for? maybe i took it the wrong way, but lorriane was implying i was dumb or something just because i worded my sentence a little wrong and because i have some spelling errors.

Do you (Keith) and djv1 still have problem with Lorraine because of some past threads? OR because of the beef issues?

Lorraine may not worded nicely to you, but from what I've read, you and djv1 did not post any nicer to her.

My suggestion to all of you,
talk on the topic (the issue), don't go personal attacks.
