Lost E-Mail - Continuing Saga

Postby diamondhorse » Sun 25 Jul, 2004 11:06 pm

Thanks so much to those of you that pointed me in the direction to find my lost e-mail messages, address book and bookmarks. I did find my message folder and my bookmarks. Couldn't find my address book but I figure that I can re-create it if I can access my sent folder. Now I'm stumped on how I move these folders from C:\Program Files\Users back to where they belong in my Netscape. I've tried what I thought would work but it didn't work.

TIA!

The folders belong in the Users folders. You just have to make sure that you have set up the correct path. I don't know why it would change, but check things out. See what you have in your Preferences|Mail and News|Server Settings and check the path in Local Directories. That is the proper way to connect Netscape Mail. C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\xxxxx\mail
That is the path for my account. xxxxx=your user profile name.
Your address book is in the pab.na2 file. That file, the bookmark.htm and thre Mail folder are at the same location.
You don't want to have your profile information in the Netscape Communicator folder, because you want to save the profile stuff, if you uninstall the program.
This tells me that you are no way ready for the more modern Netscape 7.1. I that case, the profile folder is in an entirely different folder, and hidden in Win XP, to boot!
