According to this ranking, as well as some others I've seen, the U.S. ranks 14th for average broadband speeds - about 3Mbps behind Australia (9th) and Portugal (8th).

I can attest that our internet in the U.S is not that great. Considering that in the area where I live, if you do not want Dial up, you can only get cable. And that's only from one company. I get about 17 megs down, and that's only because we are the only house on this line.

It turns out that although this isn't officially supported, you can, in fact, burn OS X Lion bought from the Mac App Store onto a DVD. The internal files in the installation program include a complete burnable disk image (called ESDInstall.dmg). Whew.

Though I still think it's stupid because people with very slow Internet connections will be in trouble if they want to buy Lion. But hey, it's a huge improvement.

What I meant was, you could buy it in the app store so that you had legal rights to it and then download it.

For example: I have a legal license for Windows XP Home Edition Dell OEM. I have the CD, however it got scratched to the point where it cannot be used. I was able to, legally, download a copy of Windows XP Dell OEM and use it.

Apple announced that Mac OS X Lion, the eighth major release of the world’s most advanced operating system with more than 250 new features, is available today as a download from the Mac App Store for $29.99 (USD). Some of the amazing features in Lion include: new Multi-Touch gestures; system-wide support for full screen apps; Mission Control, an innovative view of everything running on your Mac; the Mac App Store, the best place to find and explore great software, built right into the OS; Launchpad, a new home for all your apps; and a completely redesigned Mail app.

Additional new features in Lion include:
Resume, which conveniently brings your apps back exactly how you left them when you restart your Mac or quit and relaunch an app;
Auto Save, which automatically and continuously saves your documents as you work;
Versions, which automatically records the history of your document as you create it, and gives you an easy way to browse, revert and even copy and paste from previous versions; and
AirDrop, which finds nearby Macs and automatically sets up a peer-to-peer wireless connection to make transferring files quick and easy.

Mac OS X Lion is currently available via download from Mac App Store. A media version will be available at Apple Store in USB thumb version later in August.
OS X Lion also includes “Lion Recovery” as part of OS X Lion distribution. Lion Recovery can restore Mac system software without drives.

Mac OS X Lion is available as an upgrade to Mac OS X version 10.6.6 Snow Leopard from the Mac App Store for $29.99 USD. Lion is the easiest OS X upgrade and at around 4GB, it is about the size of an HD movie from the iTunes Store. Users who do not have broadband access at home, work or school can download Lion at Apple retail stores and later this August, Lion will be made available on a USB thumb drive through the Apple Store for $69 USD. Mac OS X Lion Server requires Lion and is available from the Mac App Store for $49.99 USD

OS X Lion is out, and I am not on Lion yet. (Antony does not rush.)
