Macworld Conference & Expo Comes to Boston

Postby Don_HH2K » Sun 11 Jul, 2004 7:59 pm

A computer expo finally comes to somewhere that I can actually get to without flying! And this time, it's Mac!

More info is at
http://www.boston.com/business/articles ... onvention/

And I have a picture (large and blurry) at http://dluchini30.tripod.com/Images/P7100001.JPG

Nice to know that they're coming here for a change.

It is too bad that Apple themselves won't be there... But, it's always good to take a look at whatever else is on display, as long as what I read about somewhere doesn't happen where I accidentally switch my handheld with a newer model.

MacWorld previously had been in Boston. It moved to NYC a year after the Boston Computer Society folded.

Don - tripod does not allow retrieval of individual images, I get a generic Tripod graphic on that link.

I think you have to copy and paste the link into your Address bar.

I recently switched to a new image host, so I doubt I'll have that problem anymore, as they support hotlinking.

You should use www.imageshack.us for hosting pictures. It makes things easier.

ImageShack is one solution, just personally I don't recommend for hosting important images. Lack of control of the picture once submitted.

Right now I'm using a Web server provided by www.ripway.com . So far I haven't had any problems and have not received any spam, and they will let me use hotlinks.

A friend of mine has his own domain with a ton of space and bandwith, and he was kind enough to give me a free subdomain - I use that for storing images :)

Didn't work. I used Mozilla to try to open it in a new tab.

What preventing image hotlink does is simply to check the referral to see if there's from the same domain or without referral.
Opening the link in a new tab still passes the referral information, I guess.

So click the link and hit the reload OR copy and paste the link into your address bar.

I did, it redirected to http://dluchini30.tripod.com/adm/inters ... remote.jpg and displayed a small "hosted by Tripod" image.

Which is why my Tripod server is now for transferring random files between PCs.

Just copy the URL of the image from here and paste it in a new browser window.
not opened in a new tab window then clicked reload, it won't work that way.
