We have an application for which we need MAPI32.dll (5.0) to generate an email and when I install MAPI32.dll (5.0) and reboot it is going back to the older version.
But we want to stick to the new version.

Please direct me if I am in the wrong place.

I always make sure I choose "No" when Netscape asks to be the default mail
program/mapi client when installing an updated Netscape, otherwise the Netscape-supplied mapi32.dll will replace the one in Windows\System. (In my case, Microsoft Fax would stop working then).

Try UNchecking the Netscape option that has Netscape being the default mail/mapi client. In Netscape Communicator 4.79 the option is in Edit Preferences Mail and Newsgroups, "Use Netscape Messenger from mapi-based applications". If you see a checkmark there, click in the box to clear it, and close Netscape. That should reset whatever previous mail program you had set as the default but if it doesn't, open the other mail program and reset it manually as the default mail program. Then try installing the updated mapi32.dll.
