But as well as that - for some reason my View drop-down menu has stopped dropping down. Whether I click on 'View', hover over it after dropping another menu, or press Alt-V, noting appears. The View button is depressed but no menu.
I do not know about the View staying depressed. Has it been like that since day one or two? But you can lose very easily the toolbars if you stray too far from the edge, there is a vertical "thingy" on the far left, and if you click on it, you will not see the toolbar, until you click on on the now horizontal thingy. And, you can make more than one toolbar disappear, and then reappear (hopefully).
