Microsoft bought Skype for $8.5b

Postby Antony » Wed 11 May, 2011 10:37 am

For those who follow the tech news, Microsoft made a surprising announcement of $8.5 billion acquisition of Skype (news: WSJ.com)

Perhaps many of us would feel more secure with Skype since it will be under Microsoft. For the rest of us who don't use Microsoft devices, Computerworld.com has an answer:
Computerworld wrote:Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said, “We will continue to invest in Skype on non-Microsoft client platforms”

Apart from the concern of Skype on other platforms, there is a huge list of things Microsoft can do with Skype, including possibility of integrating Skype with the Xbox 360 console and Xbox Live online gaming service hinted by Steve Ballmer.

Without a doubt, Windows Phone should get some great integration with Skype. So far, Windows Phone yet to produce an answer to Apple’s FaceTime and Android’s Gtalk video chat.

Maybe they'll use skype to replace their horrible MSN service.
