Microsoft is pulling plugs on Office XP

Postby Antony » Mon 14 Mar, 2011 12:57 pm

According to this news report, Microsoft is reminding customers that the company will stop support Office XP in July.

Microsoft support its products for 10 years, with first five years being "mainstream support" and the second five years "extended support". The difference being that in the "extended support" period, non-security fixes are provided only to organisations who signed support contracts with Microsoft.

Microsoft ended Windows XP SP2 support in July 2010. After Office XP's support ending in July 2011, Office 2003 and Office 2007's support will end in January 2014 and April 2017 respectively.

Even out-of-support, the software (Office XP) can still be used.
