Microsoft to open more Microsoft Stores

Postby Antony » Wed 06 Apr, 2011 10:04 pm

This should be a good news to Microsoft fans.

According to Business Insider SAI, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer wanted to open more Microsoft (retail) Stores, and to outdo Apple's retail presence (over 300 stores).

So far, Microsoft has only opened 8 stores since it launched its retail initiative about 1 1/2 years ago and has only announced two more. There's a reason for that: the stores are expensive to build -- Microsoft wants them to be high-profile showcases like Apple stores are -- and most of them aren't making money.

There are a few Apple stores in the Boston area, but no Microsoft stores that I'm aware of.
