Migrating mails from Mozilla to Outlook

Postby emoreira » Wed 05 Oct, 2005 2:59 pm

Hi people :

I´ve been using Mozilla for the lasy two years. Now I must migrate to Outlook. Is there a way to migrate the mails stored in my personal folders locally in the HD of my PC ?

I will try to be a bit more specific. The Microsoft mail programs do not have recognize the newer Netscapes and Mozilla, so, it is necessary to export mail from Mozilla to Netscape4.x which is recognized by the Microsoft programs.
I use the word export, but it is usually done manually. There is an Inbox file in NS4.x, 7.x, Mozilla and Thunderbird, so they are completely compatible. The files with no extentions are the only ones to be copied and pasted.
I am familiar with Outlook Express which can import Netscape4.x mail.
I am not familiar with Outlook. I think that it can import mail from Netscape4.x, but worse come to worse, it should be able to import from Outlook Express.

If you can get it to outlook express, then you can import it to outlook.

Outlook Express seems not to be able to read the mail repository from Mozilla. I've tried but I always get the message that there is no mail to be read.

This is what I had said in my previous post. Actually you do "export" the files, but set up an account in NS4.x, and then you, manually, copy the Inbox, and Sent files from Mozilla mail, and paste it into the 4.x mail. If you have only one account, you will have the same Inbox of Mozilla, in NS4.x. Then, you can do whatever you want. The general method is here.
Microsoft has chosen to ignore the new development of Netscape and mozilla, to no advantage. They probably can't figure out that it is a simple matter.

Does mozilla allow you to export to a .pst file?

OK, it seems that I must install first the Netscape 4 mail client and configure the account with the Mozilla folders.
From there, I have to export to Outlook Express and finally import to Outlook.
