Missing bits after Leopard install...

Postby allen-uk » Mon 25 Oct, 2010 7:32 am

Hello there.

Running iMac Intel with 10.4.11, now sort of 10.6.3.

After several attempts at a clean installation, each time screwed up by Migration Assistant (or rather something nasty lurking in my old folders), I wiped, installed, and started the tedious process of reinstalling my programs one by one.

At the end, and it's now driving me mad, I found that the usual Print Dialogue box is now screwed up in Quark, Photoshop CS3, and even rotten Stickies!

The 'Copies & Pages' option is missing, which means that even after a careful reinstall of my PrintFab (software RIP), I can't see the darned thing as I can't see 'Copies & Pages' (it normally comes up as a sub-option on that pulldown menu).

Anyone else had similar problems? Is there (hopefully) something I'm missing on 10.6 which will solve it?

Otherwise, I'll have to start the wiping/reinstalling again. I don't mind, as it's hardly coal-mining, but it takes so LONG!

Help, if there is any, appreciated as usual.

Allen, frustrated, in London!

Have you tried creating a new Mac OS X user? and see if that user would have the behaviour?

Or have you tried re-install Mac OS X without using Migration Assistant?

Hello Antony.

Yes, I did install manually (i.e. without Migration Assistant), and that was where I was up to.

As it happens, MacGurus, often handy, came up with the answer. "Copies and Pages" no longer exists in that position, and it IS an OS function. Now, you pick it up on the 'first page' of going to Print on QX, Pshop, etc.

And there it is. I had been hunting everywhere, and it was under my nose. Typical!

Thanks for the ideas, though. The separate user account might come in handy for something else.

Cheers.

Allen.
