More iTunes problems. Can anyone help?

Postby Fulvio » Thu 26 Jul, 2012 1:49 pm

I have had some minor problems with iTunes, which lead to the suggestion that reload my PC to "fix" the problem.
I had said that I thought that it was an iTunes problem, because I have been downloading music from other sites with no issue.
The latest is a good one, which I, never, experienced before. My wife wanted an album of The Clash. It was reduced in price (London Calling), so I downloaded it, along with another two songs from another album. The Album cover was beautiful, unlike the issues shown before. I burned the songs on a CD, and started playing it to surprise my wife. The first song was ok, but the second was interrupted after 40", then totally blank. I checked other songs, assuming that if they were ok after one minute, they might be ok. Ten of the 21 songs "died" after 30-40". I tried to connect to iTunes support, and was told that the URL was not available. When I clicked on having problems when I got the receipt, I got more tabs that I could handle for the "itmss" . I had to do a hard shutdown, because whatever this file was, took over Seamonkey. I could close tabs fast enough.
I was able to get, eventually to an Apple website for tech support, but I got nowhere. All I could see where FAQs.
Maybe I could contact users, but nothing from Apple. I tried to redownload, at least, one song, but it would not let me. I was told that everything was downloaded. Is there any way to contact Apple?
I will try to use IE or Chrome, to see if the "itmss" mess them up.

IE8 worked. I had iTunes open, where I was able to report the problems. This was on July 26, before 5 PM. I got confirmation, but no reply. Interestingly, I received a receipt of purchase for one track, several hours after reporting that it was a bad download. Right at the beginning indicated that I had the track, but received no receipt.

I received a nice letter from iTunes support, with a link to redownload the songs.
In the meantime, I spent a lot of time listening to the entire album, to make sure that the rest of the downloaded songs were ok. It was a waste of time, because I had no choice in selecting which songs needed redownloading.
I needed nine out of twenty one. After redownloading, only the first four were ok. I got only a sample of the other seventeen, losing seven perfectly good songs. This is, simply, unbelievable.

Fulvio,

Sorry for late to this post.

To be honest, I still have a feeling that most of your iTunes problem could be solved if you could perform a clean-(re)installation of your entire Windows system. Of course, I know it would be a big pain to do so.

As for re-downloading songs you purchased, you can do that at anytime (or even from another computer). Simply delete the songs that have issues from your iTunes, then visit iTunes Store, sign in, and click Purchased as shown in screenshot below.

As for your suggestions, I wished I had seen them sooner.
iTunes support, apparently, gave me a chance to redownload the entire album. I had 10 30-40 sec samples before, and the same number after they helped, except that they were different songs. When, I told them that only some of the songs were affected, and that their all or none method did not work, they refunded me the entire album.
As for reloading my Windows because iTunes can't figure out my problems, I, rather do without it.
I was able to download the same music at emusic, with no incident, and for less.
