More iTunes problems

Postby Fulvio » Sat 31 Mar, 2012 6:18 pm

I mentioned in earlier post of issues which I had in downloading music and other apps, free from Starbuck. iTunes solved the problem in an unexpectedly generous way, by issuing me $10 worth of downloads.
Now, I ran into another problem, with Books. A free book from Starbuck downloaded only 883Kb, which gave me a nice view of the book cover, but no other hint. Today, after redeeming a $25 card, and getting no credit, I downloaded a book, Yellow Submarine, a 319 MB item. The book was free from Apple. Again, only the cover.
So, I copied the two .epub files, and paste them on my Desktop. Adobe Digital Editions opens the unprotected .epub files. Interestingly, it showed no picture of the book covers, but a nice index of the content. Through Adobe, I was able to see that there was an error:E_Pkg_Encryption_Xml_Syntax, which would not allow mw to view the contents. I sent a report to iTunes.
It is possible that ptotected Book files may work, but I would not trust iTunes, at this point.
By the way, when I finished the download to Yellow Submarine, I got a puzzling popup:
Your credit balance is out of date
. I clicked ok, and the credit showed up.
What's the matter with them? I will report, if I get a reply.

Fulvio,

Do you have another computer that can download the same items (under the same iTunes account, you won't be charged again)? Otherwise, I would recommend you to perform a clean re-format re-install of everything if you have time.

Thank you, it was suggested to me, by others, that I get a new computer, and may have to, the way that it is acting up. But, at this point, I am waiting from a reply from iTunes tech support.
