More than one user checking inbox at a time

Postby kpkyeung » Fri 22 Nov, 2002 12:56 pm

My office is running netscape mail messenger in a LAN environment with 4 users. We all use the same email account. Problem is only one of us can open the Inbox at a time. We therefore need to line up to check mail.
Can I change the preferences or properties or something to have more than one people to get into the Inbox at a time. Thanks.

I have no idea, but I believe this is server issue. The server might only allow one email account to be checked by single user (that is one connection) at any instances. (For security reason I guess.)

Thanks, Antony. We are using a simple connection (MS Direct Cable Connection) to hook up the computers. We have a 'host' computer sharing it's harddisk (drive C: ) with other 'guest' computers. We can open the Netscape Inbox (.msf) files in that drive simultaneously by all 'guest' computers with Notepad. So we believe it's not the server file sharing issue....very likely the program control from Netscape. We believe that there could be a preference setting to control the number of people access the inbox at a time. I have been serching for hours! I need help!

Hi kpkyeung,

I would suggest that you post your problem on the Netscape 7 Newsgroup. I think you would be likely to find some help there.

It is a secure group, not a website. When I clicked on the link, which Ramona gave you, I was asked if I want to subscribe to the group. That's the only way that you can post.
Being a secure group, you should use port 563 to access it.
