Mostly Crystal theme will not install on a new WinXP machine

Postby richard mitnick » Fri 20 Mar, 2009 12:35 pm

I use the Mostly Crystal theme to brighten up SM browser on one XP machine still at 1.1.14, and two Vista machines, one at 1.1.15 and one still at 1.1.14. No problems.

Now, I have a new machine running WinXP, and the theme will not install. In fact, no alternative themes will install.

The new machine is an Acer Inspire notebook #150-1635, with an Intel Atom processor, I think N270, 1.6 gigs and hyperthreaded, and the DRAM is DDR2 1024 gigs.

Any ideas?

Hmm, mine is working fine.

Try deleting the profile, and creating a new one (if it's not going to be a hassle).

Me too, John, on three machines. What I am asking is if anyone has any idea as to why it would not install on another machine.

Try running SeaMonkey as an Administrator, and Google menehy, and install that as well, it allows for ease of installation of addons.

What kind of error messages are you getting when you try to install the themes?

Try creating a new profile and see if the theme will install in that.

I think it says something like no install script.

Are you downloading the theme from Mozilla's Addon Site? I can never get anything from there to work. Google CatThief, and try his.

Good advice, the Mozilla Addons site is a disaster for SeaMonkey themes and extensions.

Disaster is right.

Here is a link to a functioning Mostly Crystal theme:
http://www.tom-cat.com/mozilla/seamonkey.html.
Try that, and then post you're results.
