I also have a huge mousepad, but mine is old and worn out.

Razer Mantis Speed mouse pad, and a Microsoft Habu mouse, both circa-2007. The 'Microsoft' branding on my mouse has nearly faded away, and my mouse pad is looking rather tatty. They're both in need of a good clean as well I dare say, but they still work well enough.

I needed a new mouse pad for my new netbook because of the surface on which I placed it.

Mine is black hard cover.

My school had a pile of old technology they were discarding, that I helped myself too (not sure if I was supposed to or not, but I did. Besides it's been sitting there for over a year.) and I grabbed about twenty plane cloth mouse pads. Along with ten or twelve USB optical mice, and three pairs of speakers. I also grabbed a HP DC5100 SFF PC with a Pentium 4HT @ 3.20Ghz, 2GB DDR2 and a Dvd ROM/CD RW and a 40GB hard drive, as well as B/G wifi. Makes a nice replacement for my desktop. :)

Hey John-

A PIIII. Old but solid. Is it really hyper-threaded? A gig per thread, perfect for crunching. And 3.2 gig CPU speed, not too shabby. What is the O/S on that puppy?

Don't worry, Don does that quite often.

Nice find! :) Here they gut everything before throwing it out so it's a game of mix-and-match with what you can find.

On a similar note, Antony might be happy to hear I have sold several PowerMacs from the trash this year.

Don,

You are making that (taking University's properties) for personal profit as something very proud.

You make it sound like I stole those. They were TRASH, hence whatever claim they had to being university property would be forfeit.

I don't see what's wrong in finding ways to make use of someone else's waste. Better sold into someone else's hands that could use it than in a landfill doing nothing.

WHAT?

They might appear to be trash, however, they are still likely to be university's properties even on university's dump yard, unless expressed indicated with words like "free for good home". That is just like those disgraceful dumpster diving people trespassing into (supermarkets') properties which clearly breaks the law. Some of them even break the lock of the container.

Just be careful: selling illegally obtained goods is a crime.

Yes, it is really hyper threaded. See here:

It's running Windows XP. I might put seven on it, but I don't know as the graphics don't do well with it. But it is 64-bit which is nice. Who knows, I might throw Linux on it.

They didn't gut these, but I did. They were probably going to be donated. But I gutted three of them (3 40GB hard drives and four gigs of DDR2 533 in 512MB sticks) they'll probably never even notice. Plus they were all marked discard.
