Moz and CSS and compatibility with pre-css browsers?

Postby zules » Mon 13 Oct, 2003 11:15 pm

I'm using Mozilla Composer and I would like to switch off css sometimes as it is not compatible with Netscape 4 (and there are users out there still using a pre-css browser).

For example: sometimes the body tag includes a "style" tag which then makes NS4 default to gray background (instead of the white I use - which makes links unreadable).

Is there any way I can switch off CSS in MOZ.

Seeing as your using Mac OS X . . . go to . . .

Mozilla menu - Preferences - Composer - Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Editing

Then uncheck the checkbox next to . . .
"Use CSS styles instead of HTML elements and attributes".

BTW, there are only a very tiny percentage of Netscape 4.x users left, so in the long term,
it would be better to cater primarily for users of 5th generation web browsers and upwards.

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

Thank you - I have a question regarding the benefits of using css (as you point out there must be few NS4 browsers left).

Putting it in laymans terms:
Q. Is 5th generation code compatible and can be converetd (and/or read by) to XML but earlier code is not -- is that also the case?

Thanks heaps
