Not long now.

What's New in Mozilla 1.2a

* Type Ahead Find is a new feature that allows quick navigation when you type a succession of characters in the browser, matching the text in one or more links on the page. You can also use it to search for any text on the page by typing / before your search text. Read the full Type Ahead Find documentation to learn about all of its features, prefs and future plans.
* Selection of text in message headers has been implemented (partially).
* Drag and drop from the message search results window is new.
* One of the most frequently reported bugs, "long strings in mail or news header cause scroll bars and attachment window to disappear, making message unreadable" has been fixed. (Bug 91662)
* Preliminary XML prettyprinting, similar to IEs default-view for XML is now available. In this release the feature does not work in installer-builds you need to get a .zip distribution. However since the feature for now affects the DOM for unstyled XML-pages it is disabled by default. To enable it, add user_pref("layout.xml.prettyprint", true); to your user.js. (Bug 64945)
Windows
* You can now add multiple attachments to a mail message via the Attach File dialog. (Bug 121122)

New Additions to the Release Notes

These are items that have been added to the release notes since the last milestone although the bugs themselves may have existed previously.

* QuickLaunch currently has severe problems. If you chose to use it then you should exercise caution, care, patience and tolerance. Some problems include:
o When you close the last window, Mozilla will unload itself and reload itself this may take a while. This will probably result in lots of disk thrashing. (Bug 143764)
o The icon in the tray will disappear while this is in progress. (Bug 146340)
o The tray icon will reappear at the end of the icons. (Bug 146340)
o If you use Norton Internet Security, a Norton Alert Ticker pops up with the message that Mozilla is accessing the internet again. (Bug 167998)
o Mozilla is disabled during first few seconds after quicklaunch reloads. (Bug 157357)
o If you select exit from the system tray icon, quick launch will remain disabled until the next time you login to windows. Workaround: change your shortcuts (and registry entires) from path\to\mozilla.exe to "path\to\mozilla.exe" -turbo. (Bug 150280)
o You can not stop quicklaunch from the system tray. (Bug 99848)
o QuickLaunch will force download manager will abort your downloads if you do not leave a window open. (Bug 147254)
* Type ahead find isn't perfect -- yet:
o Type Ahead Find does not yet work on the Macintosh. Our apologies - we plan to have that ready in Mozilla 1.2 beta. (Bug 165632)
o Type ahead find can't find text in button and image labels (Bug 158757)
o Searching again for repeated characters forgets about all but the first character. (e.g. at yahoo: /oo ctrl-g will start highlighting all o's one at a time) (Bug 167783)
o Type ahead find conflicts with web pages that listen for dom key events (Bug 167921)
* blah blah

It looks too buggy to try. Thanks for the info.

Just installed the latest nightly for Mozilla, and find two interesting additions that I've never noticed before. Just wondering if they have been in the trunk for awhile or are brand new...
  • Pop-up manager in the Privacy & Security section of preferences.
  • Allowing detailed examination of cookie info before accepting.

I have to say, the future of Netscape is looking brighter and brighter from my point of view. While I personally still use my firewall to control cookies and popups, I may very well begin delegating that responsibility to Netscape eventually.

The cookie dialogue has been around for a bit over a week and the popup pref is brand new.

...And what's Hendy talking about Type Ahead being kinda buggy? It's great and I've personally tested it extensively. There are some perf considerations, accessibility compatibilty problems, and cross-platform problems, but it's great for the OSs that matter  ...

They're new. I'm actually using the cookie management now as a result of those changes.

As for popups, unless it's set up with a whitelist (disable all popups except xyz...), I probably won't use it.
