mozilla won't play movies

Postby KRTeagle » Wed 20 Apr, 2005 10:39 am

how can I get mozilla to play stuff at launch.yahoo.com? whenever I try it tells me to get the newest netscape or IE browser. now whenever I want to use launch I use IE and whenever I use anything else I use mozilla. I'd like to make it all mozilla if possible.

The problem with Launch! (now Yahoo! Music) is because they employ some ridiculous browser-sniffing and (perhaps) ActiveX technology.

You may like to comb this thread, "Unable to watch videos @ launch.yahoo.com using Netscape 7.2," for relevant information regarding getting Launch videos to play on Netscape, Mozilla, or Mozilla Firefox. If you try the user agent switcher, remember to reset your user agent to its original setting when not visiting Launch to ensure that other sites detect your browser correctly and that it is listed properly in access logs.

Hopefully, with Yahoo's commitment to better Mozilla Firefox support in the future, they fix their videos so they work in Mozilla browsers without elaborate tricks on the user's part, although until we hear anything else this is still partially wishful thinking.

This thread really belongs in the Netscape and Mozilla subforum, not "Windows (and Microsoft talk)."

Consider it done! Topic moved, and shadow topic left behind inthe other forum . . .

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

You need the Mozilla ActiveX plugin and a Netscape 7.1 or Netscape 7.2 useragent for the music videos at http://music.yahoo.com/musicvideos/ - formerly http://launch.yahoo.com/musicvideos/
You'll also need to allow popups from music.yahoo.com
