My browser won't support java...help!

Postby perry2 » Fri 16 Apr, 2004 11:53 am

I hope I'm posting in the right topic, if not, I'm sorry.

How do I get my browser to support javascript :?

I am receiving a message page telling me that I don't have javascript enabled in my browser. (When I check my internet options advance section, my javacsript is enabled.) So, the message is telling me that I must have an older version of a browser and that I should upgrade. And here's the part I hate to admit...I'm new to computers and don't even know what a browser really is...how's that for "stupid"...lol

Anyway...My system has windows 98 and I think I used to have netscape communicater and deleted it by accident. If I downloaded NS would I be able to support java and if so, which one do I download :?

If anyone can please help me I would greatly appreciate it :!: Thanks...Perry

By the way Java and javascript are not the same thing.
Anyway a browser is a program which allows you to..."browse" the internet. I has a Navigator and, usually, Mail component.
From what you say, if you looked at Internet Options, you were not looking in Netscape, but most likely in Internet Explorer, and that does not help. I see that you are using Internet Explorer 6.0. Are you having problems with it? Do you know what version Netscape you have?

Indeed. Java is a programming language made by Sun Microsystems,
whilst JavaScript is a web scripting language, invented by Netscape.
